New Project of DEEP Indonesia

The DEEP Network is pleased to announce that Ikfina Maufuriyah, who has set up a DEEP circle in Jepara, Indonesia, has been successful in securing a grant from the Australia Award Indonesia to support her circle’s project entitled “Raising awareness of the importance of dyslexia early detection and early intervention among parents and teachers in Jepara, Central Java”. An experienced educator and ardent advocate for inclusive education for children with special needs, Ikfina welcomes anyone interested in exploring collaboration to contact her via email (maufuriyahikfina@gmail.com). This new project is part of our  ‘pedagogy of hope’ (Paulo Freire) which is a significant aspiration of the DEEP Network. Such a pedagogical approach informs the many peace education workshops run by Dr Gloria Abarca (Deputy Director) and other members as well as  the educational projects carried out by the DEEP French, German, Indonesian, and Malaysian teams. It is also one of sources of inspiration for the suite of the  educational programs offered by our collaborative partner, Thoughtbox Education (https://www.thoughtboxeducation.com/). Its founding director, Rachel Musson, is a DEEP member based in the UK.
